Whizzing
Before & After

Pre-Whizzing Post-Whizzing

The florin as found.
With both of these shots I tried to get the colour balance as accurate as possible, however the "before" shot still has lots of false colour artefacts.
Remember that the left-hand side (the "roo" side) of the coin was whizzed with the steel brush, and right-hand side ("emu" side) was whizzed with the nylon brush. The difference is huge.

The vertical parallel scratches between the "1" and the "9" were invisible naked eye, and very difficult
to spot even with a loupe. I had to tilt the coin and squint (!) to see them. They were obvious under the microscope, though.
Despite their tiny size, I can still make them out under the heavy abuse meted out by the steel brush.
The whizzing scratches are obvious and numerous, but they still haven't completely removed the original scratches.

The savage damage done by the steel brush (above) is shown well here.
Poor little fella has almost lost his ear in the name of science.

The emu, by comparison, has been treated relatively gently (nylon bristle brush).

Oh dear. A little ray of sunshine appears to have been misplaced. Perhaps it moved behind the 'roo! ;-)
